"Growing up close to the ocean has had a significant impact on my work. The unpredictability nature provides is always challenging as my work tends to involve itself primarily around the ocean, which is always creating enthusiasm and inspiration for me."

"When deciding the winning photograph I was looking for a work that made me feel something visually and emotionally. ‘Beneath the Surface’ for me demonstrated both a high level of technical skill and execution, yet communicated a deep and emotive response beyond the mere depiction of a subject. The integrity and simplistic beauty of the image is undeniable. Kane’s chosen composition, his consideration of empty space and the contrasting depths of light elevate the quiet yet energetic nature of the work, resulting in a stunning outcome."
